The market for 3rd party system tools has gotten quite large over the last few years. Since phones, tablets and phablets(?) have slowly become more like computers people are now associating them with computers. And what do we know about computers? Well, we know they require anti-virus software, system security software, registry cleaner software, and that they need to keep their memory clean in order to run smoothly.
Although that is somewhat true, the reality is that Windows and Android are totally different animals. Clean Master is an Android optimizer app that cleans memory, frees up space and shows it in a very fancy manner. While not every free-able space is occupied by "junk". Clean master scans your apps for data and then allows you to check and uncheck each item for cleaning, allowing you to clear app data in bulk and also remove residual Android files with one fell swoop.
The Phone Boost clears up running memory (RAM) by shutting down active apps. This is a double edged sword. Remember that holding memory does not consume battery power nor does it stresses the CPU. Computers need clean memory since they use hard drives for storage and RAM for running things, but in in an environment where storage and RAM is one and the same, freeing memory seems like a joke. And it is. Leave memory management to the operating system.
At least you can select which application to close, so in essence that can be useful but is also unnecessary since the Android task manager does the exact same thing.
There is also an app manager through which you can uninstall in bulk or backup apps. These can be accessed an re-installed since the app file is stored locally.
- File cleaning
- Memory cleaning
- App manager
- Very efficient as a file cleaner
- Too much bling
- Ads are mixed with features
Clean Master has a couple of good features, but the overload of featurettes mixed with self promotion of other apps leaves a sour taste. Install at your own expense.
